Primitive Santas
I have always loved the old German style Santas - the simple, primitive faces, the red flannel robes. They have a timeless quality that speaks of enduring traditons, of simpler times. I'm especially drawn to ones with animals - which of course, I'm automatically drawn to anything with animals. You just don't come across them in my area & if I did, there wouldn't be a hope of affording one. So I've created my own.
The faces are from my own sculpt - created in stone clay, which is painted and antiqued, giving the aged, antique look. The animals are from all different mediums - perhaps sculpted from stone clay, needlefelted or carved from wood.
The settings most often have wee children in the vyngette - as necessary as the animals in my mind. I re-create them from wee antique German dolls that I treasure - making their faces from stone clay, handpainting their tiny features and giving them little wooly outfits.
This has become a favourite line for me, which I offer exclusively on Ebay.
