Nestled in a hollow in the quiet countryside of Southwestern Ontario, Canada, is our farm 'Edenwood'. It is named that simply because it has lots of trees and it is our Eden. It is in the hamlet of Avonbank, which is small enough that no one knows where it starts or stops. It just Is.
It is where we are centered. It is there that we have raised four children and a menagerie of critters. It is there that we connect with family, friends, our community and nature - the very most important things in life. It is there where the seeds of my creativity are planted and nurtured, being born into what becomes 'The Edenwood Collection'.
One day, I'll get some pictures up here that aren't winter. The problem is, the only time that I actually sit down and catch up with this site is winter & I've once again
forgotten to take pictures in other seasons. I need to make that a mission - or you'll
be thinking that we really do have SNOW here in Canada, all year round.
This is my 'Little Cabin in the Field'. A sanctuary where I can run away to & still keep my eye on the house. Even though it's a stone's throw - it's a world away. No electricty - just silence & candle light & oil lamps. I can hear the phone ring in the house, but can't do a thing about it. I share the space with the donkeys.. Well, in fact, it's THEIR space, so technically, they share it with me.
I don't work there. I work everywhere else, including in the car when I'm travelling. This is my sacred space, where I write & read - but most often sleep. It seems to have a magnet in the bed that beckons me to come 'rest a spell'. When I spend the night there, I call out the window from my bed 'Good night, Brian'. And he calls back 'Good night!'. I suspect the neighbours think we're a half bubble off plumb.
